Through one of her clients, she is introduced to Michael Scott, a small time film producer. Michael is intrigued by Maria and her glacial attitude. He asks her out. After many refusals his tenacity finally pays off and Maria agrees to meet. As their relationship slowly develops, Michael discovers the reasons behind Maria's fatalistic birthday plan.
