Mauvaise Pioche na bombuj. The caretaker of a decaying fort serves as the narrator of this story. He is the only soldier who has remained at his post all these years. He tells us the tale of Eugène, a young prospector in search of his first green gold vein. Unfortunately, Eugène is ambushed by Raphaël and Gauvain, two escaped convicts on the run.
